Just wanted to share some photos of the Supercell that crossed over Pohorje hill on 31.5, just missed my home by a few kilometers and dropped some marginal hail a few villages away. It began to weaken as soon as it got over Pohorje, as most if not all of the supercells do around here. The hill simply disrupts the low level organisation and weakens the storm.
The sky darkened and the low level clouds started to move in s N/NW flow, indicating that the inflow is strengthening. Some thunder was already heard at this point.
Soon after, the Meso approached, and the inflow was felt in the ground level too.
Mesocyclone became better defined, and the low level clouds were moving into the storm. it was quite the sight. :)
The storm approached quite fast, so the beast began to show its true face. :)
At this point I just remembered that my car is outside, so I rushed to put it in the garage. I knew that the chances are low for the core to hit me, but safety first! :D
When I returned to my position behind the house, the gust front began to move by, and the core was visible.
Front side of the storm.
Gust front.
The storm was quickly weakening. It was a rightmover at first, moving directly towards me, but the hill weakened it, so it began to move with the general NW storm motion. The hail core missed me by just a few kilometers.
View at the hail core and the dying storm.
I will add photos of the hail and any damage if I can find it somewhere.
Quality is not that good, but I guess its enough to give the idea of the "action". :D
